The Boston Modern Quilt Guild is dedicated to providing inspiration, fellowship, and support to quilters of all skill levels and types. We are a chapter of the national Modern Quilt Guild.

The Denim Project

On display now through 31 December at the Morse Institute Library, Natick, MA

Did you know that 80% of all textiles end up in
landfills? Denim alone accounts for more than 200

million tons of waste a year. In an effort to
highlight this issue and to promote sustainability
within the art of quilting, our guild challenged itself
to make quilts using only upcycled materials with denim as a focus. Artists could choose any size or subject matter, but no new materials were to be used. This project was very rewarding and the quilts produced are beautiful works of art.

Quilts for Today

A Modern Quilt Show

In September 2024, the Boston Modern Quilt Guild was proud to present “Quilts for Today,” celebrating the creativity, artistry, and talents of our members. The 150 quilts on display honored the history and legacy of quilting, bringing a modern viewpoint to this centuries-old craft. Exhibits included:

  • The Denim Project, using upcycled materials in quilts to promote sustainability

  • The Dewey Decimal Quilts, small works representing topics found on library shelves

  • Award-winning quilts from QuiltCon, Quilt Festival, and other national venues

  • Be Kind Bee Charity Quilts

About the Boston Modern Quilt Guild

Who we are

The Boston Modern Quilt Guild was founded in 2010 with members hailing from Boston, MetroWest, and beyond. Our members are wide-ranging in experience - from just starting to seasoned - and style. We don’t get stuck on what is modern - if you think it is, we are happy to agree!

Our 2025 officers are:

  • Co-Presidents: Joyce Husseini & Leneigh White

  • Co-Vice Presidents: Emily Hofmann & Karen Wood

  • Treasurer: Jean Osborn

We generally meet the 3rd Saturday of the month from 1-3 PM. The location varies but is typically in a town near the junction of 128 and 90. Prospective members may attend one meeting free as a trial unless specifically noted as "members only." Show & Tell is always on the agenda. Contact us for more information about meetings.
